Auroville Herbarium
The Auroville Herbarium is developing up a so-called special herbarium, with it's main focus on plant species that represent the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest (TDEF). It also incorporate collections from a wider field, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam and other parts of India. Today there is a main herbarium containing some 15,000 accessions, the bulk of these from the TDEF, for study by leading botanists and taxonomists and for consultation by interested Aurovilians.
